Brad Hambrick

BCC Council Member Brad Hambrick joins us as our guest today on 15:14. Brad serves as the Pastor of Counseling at The Summit Church in  Durham, NC. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has authored several books, including Mobilizing Church-Based Counseling: Models for Sustainable Church-Based Care, God’s Attributes: Rest for Life’s Struggles, and served as general editor for the Becoming a Church that Cares Well for the Abused (churchcares.com) project. Brad is the creator of G4, a group-based counseling model designed to be led by lay people in the church.

Jason Kovacs

Jason Kovacs serves as the Executive Director of the Gospel Care Collective, a ministry that provides counseling, equipping, and consulting for churches in the area of biblical counseling. He is a member of the BCC Council. He also serves on the Board of the Canadian Biblical Counseling Coalition and founded Redemption Counseling Centers in British Columbia, Canada. Jason received his Master of Arts from Reformed Theological Seminary and has specialized training in working with foster/adoptive families and trauma through TBRI®. He utilizes a gospel-centered, clinically-informed approach. Jason is a member and Certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Biblical Counselors. He has been married to Shawnda for over 17 years, and they have five children. Jason joins us for this episode of 15:14 to discuss the Gospel Care Collective and its various ministry outlets.

Ed Welch

Dr. Ed Welch is a member of the BCC Council. He is a counselor and faculty member at the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF). He earned a PhD in counseling (neuropsychology) from the University of Utah and has a Master of Divinity degree from Biblical Theological Seminary. Ed has been counseling for over thirty years and has written many books and articles on biblical counseling, including When People Are Big and God Is Small; Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave; Blame It on the Brain?; Depression; Running Scared; Shame Interrupted; Side by Side: Walking with Others in Wisdom and Love; A Small Book about a Big Problem: Meditations on Anger, Patience, and Peace, and Created to Draw Near: Our Life as God’s Royal Priests. He and his wife, Sheri, have two married daughters and eight grandchildren. In his spare time, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and extended family and playing his guitar. In this episode, we get to hear more about Ed’s upbringing, how he got into biblical counseling, and how he has continued to grow in his love for God.

Lilly Park

Lilly serves as the Associate Professor of Biblical Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is a member of the BCC Council and has contributed to Trained in the Fear of God as well as other books and journals. Lilly is a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. Joe Keller

Joe Keller is a member of the BCC Council. He has served in Christian ministry and leadership development for over 20 years. Joe currently serves as the Executive Pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita, California, and teaches in the Biblical Counseling Department at The Master’s University. He received his undergraduate degree at The Master’s University, Master of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from Westminster Theological Seminary. He is also the co-host of “The Most Interesting Person in the World Podcast,” where they talk to complete strangers about life and the pursuit of happiness. Joe and his wife Heidi have four children and four cats and enjoy the journey of trying to herd them all. Darryl Burling

Darryl Burling is the Founder and CEO of Biblical Mastery Academy and Chairman of the Board for New Zealand Biblical Counseling Association. Darryl spent 15 years in the IT industry, working in a variety of roles before beginning his theological education. He completed a Bachelor of the Arts in Biblical Counseling at The Master's University in less than two years and then graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from The Master's Seminary. He then went on to doctoral studies, earning a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Counseling with a minor in Biblical Spirituality from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Darryl has been happily married for 30 years and has three grown daughters. He serves as an elder and occasional preacher in his local church. Ellen Dykas

Ellen is the Director of Equipping for Ministry to Women for Harvest USA and a member of the BCC Council. She joined Harvest USA in 2007 as their first full-time women’s ministry staff. She has authored several mini-books, a women’s curriculum, a devotional, and, most recently, Jesus and Your Unwanted Journey: Wives Finding Comfort After Sexual Betrayal. Ellen now focuses on producing new content and developing training for churches. She received her MA from Covenant Theological Seminary and a graduate certificate in biblical counseling from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF). Robert Cheong

Robert Cheong is the co-founder of Gospel Care Ministries, which he and his wife Karen launched in 2018. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and his MDiv and PhD from The Southern Baptist Theology Seminary. He also serves as a Council Member for the Biblical Counseling Coalition. Robert is the author of Restoration Story: Why Jesus Matters in a Broken World; Restore: Changing How We Live and Love, and God Redeeming His Bride: A Handbook for Church Discipline. In this episode, we get to know Robert on a more personal level and hear his testimony, how the Lord brought him into ministry, and what drives his passion for Kingdom work. Peter Sondergeld

Peter Sondergeld is the lead pastor of Restoration Church and founder and chair of Restore Ministries. He served as a director of Biblical Counseling Australia from 2013 to early 2018.
