Joe Keller

Joe Keller is a member of the BCC Council. He has served in Christian ministry and leadership development for over 20 years. Joe currently serves as the Executive Pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita, California, and teaches in the Biblical Counseling Department at The Master’s University. He received his undergraduate degree at The Master’s University, Master of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from Westminster Theological Seminary. He is also the co-host of “The Most Interesting Person in the World Podcast,” where they talk to complete strangers about life and the pursuit of happiness. Joe and his wife Heidi have four children and four cats and enjoy the journey of trying to herd them all. Dr. Keller joins us for this “Getting to Know” episode to discuss his life, ministry, and passion for friendship.

Darryl Burling

Darryl Burling is the Founder and CEO of Biblical Mastery Academy and Chairman of the Board for New Zealand Biblical Counseling Association. Darryl spent 15 years in the IT industry, working in a variety of roles before beginning his theological education. He completed a Bachelor of the Arts in Biblical Counseling at The Master's University in less than two years and then graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from The Master's Seminary. He then went on to doctoral studies, earning a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Counseling with a minor in Biblical Spirituality from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Darryl has been happily married for 30 years and has three grown daughters. He serves as an elder and occasional preacher in his local church. He joins us for this episode of 15:14 to discuss the state of biblical counseling in New Zealand and share about the incredible work of Biblical Mastery Academy.

Ellen Dykas

Ellen is the Director of Equipping for Ministry to Women for Harvest USA and a member of the BCC Council. She joined Harvest USA in 2007 as their first full-time women’s ministry staff. She has authored several mini-books, a women’s curriculum, a devotional, and, most recently, Jesus and Your Unwanted Journey: Wives Finding Comfort After Sexual Betrayal. Ellen now focuses on producing new content and developing training for churches. She received her MA from Covenant Theological Seminary and a graduate certificate in biblical counseling from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF). Ellen joins us for this episode of 15:14 to discuss her life and ministry as well as lessons learned along the way.

Robert Cheong

Robert Cheong is the co-founder of Gospel Care Ministries, which he and his wife Karen launched in 2018. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and his MDiv and PhD from The Southern Baptist Theology Seminary. He also serves as a Council Member for the Biblical Counseling Coalition. Robert is the author of Restoration Story: Why Jesus Matters in a Broken World; Restore: Changing How We Live and Love, and God Redeeming His Bride: A Handbook for Church Discipline. In this episode, we get to know Robert on a more personal level and hear his testimony, how the Lord brought him into ministry, and what drives his passion for Kingdom work. Peter Sondergeld

Peter Sondergeld is the lead pastor of Restoration Church and founder and chair of Restore Ministries. He served as a director of Biblical Counseling Australia from 2013 to early 2018. Peter is a registered teacher, counselor, and counseling supervisor. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Counseling, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Ministry. Disability Care Givers & Soul Care

Dave Deuel is a member of the BCC Council. He is Academic Dean Emeritus of the Master’s Academy International and Senior Research Fellow and Policy Advisor for the Christian Institute on Disability at Joni and Friends. In addition to teaching seminary classes and conducting interim pastoral roles, he serves on boards and committees that focus on ministry training and protecting and improving the lives of people with disabilities, including governor’s advisory roles in California and New York. Dave joins us for this episode of 15:14 to discuss the mission opportunities available for disability caregivers. He recently wrote a two-part blog on the topic as well for the BCC mini-series discussing vocational opportunities in biblical counseling. Joy Forrest

Joy Forrest is the Founder and Executive Director of Called to Peace Ministries.  She is the author of Called to Peace: A Survivor’s Guide to Finding Peace & Healing After Domestic Abuse and the Called to Peace Companion Workbook. Joy holds an MA in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has been active in counseling ministry since 2005. She has been an advocate for victims of abuse since 1997 and held the position of Community Educator with a local domestic violence agency in the early 2000s. Joy returns to the podcast in this episode to tell us about an exciting new opportunity. Called to Peace Church Partnerships are designed to help churches and church leaders better understand abuse, how to respond to abuse in their churches, and how to care for those who have been abused.

Anchored Hope offers biblically grounded, clinically informed virtual counseling to people around the world.
